Local poetry artist Alice Shapiro is bravely opening herself up to the world's ire or praise from anyone who cares to critique her poems on publisher unbound CONTENT's book blog.
Saltian is an Old English word that means "to dance." Shapiro's book is loosely based on a Shakespearean monologue in his play As You Like It where seven categories of humankind are discussed.
Since June 8, every day for 51 days, one of the poems from Saltian will be posted at http://booksblog.unboundcontent.com/ along with a critique by a member of the editorial board. The post will then be open to the general public for additional critiques and comments. When the book is released this Fall, the names of everyone who submitted a legitimate comment will be published on Saltian's acknowledgment page.

"I got the idea from John Kremer's newsletter where he talked about Robert Kiyasaki's similar project for his new business book," Shapiro said. "I simply adapted it to poetry since that's all I think about these days."
"I'm a big fan of Alice's first two poetry books, but this work transcends them both," said Publisher Annmarie Lockhart of unbound CONTENT. "It's got such a majestic theme, but each poem really rises to its piece of the grand scheme."
