Loyd Woodward Smith, Jr., 60, Dies

Loyd Woodward Smith, Jr., 60 of Douglasville, passed away, Oct. 21. He was born Dec. 22, 1952 in New Orleans to the late Loyd Woodward Smith, Sr., and Betty June Trammel Smith. He worked during his career self-employed as a house painter.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Sue Smith.

Survivors are his wife of 35 years, Linda Gay Smith of Douglasville; sons and daughters:  Loyd Smith III of Adairsville, Michael Hollis of Jefferson, Sondra Smith of Carrollton and Jennifer Goodson of Douglasville; sisters and brother-in-law: Patsy and Terry Carden of Bremen, Diane Jenning of Franklin, Tenn.; eight grandchildren and one great grandchild.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, Oct. 25, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.

In accordance with the family’s wishes, his body will be cremated following the visitation.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
