Mid-Century decor and collectibles are about 'clean lines', the retro feel, and playing with patterns/textures.
Looking back through old magazines and advertisements you see - the basic avocado, mustard, and burnt orange colors that pervaded the market at that time. Floating ceiling lamps, metal star-bursts hanging on the wall...all mid-century.
Ashtrays were very common in that era. A strategically placed mid-century modern art-inspired ashtray can add just that bit of Retro without much expense. You do not have to smoke to enjoy the color and feel of these small objects d'art.
As you can see, ashtrays do not have to be dull or metal. Splashes of color and irregular design intrigue your eye.
When thinking of retro...mid-century in particular..think outside the 'box'. The 1950's & 1960's designers did.
