Man Convicted Of Killing Woman In Douglas County To Be Sentenced

DOUGLASVILLE, GA—A man convicted of killing a woman last year and leaving her body on the side of a road will be sentenced March 3, according to Douglas County spokesperson Rick Martin.

On Monday, a Douglas County jury found Eric Jackson Greene of Villa Rica, GA guilty of strangling and killing 55-year-old Sheila Bryant in 2019 and leaving her body on the side of the road in west Douglas County.

During the initial investigation last year, it was a concerned citizen who reported finding the deceased woman's body off the roadway in the grass at the intersection in the Villa Rica area.

Shortly after, investigators located Greene driving Bryant’s car in Paulding County, the Douglas County Sentinel reported. Through the course of the investigation, detectives determined Greene was responsible for the killing and charged him with Bryant’s death.

According to Martin, sentencing is scheduled to take place before Superior Court Judge William H. McClain.
