Douglas Delano Worthan, age 72 of Douglasville, passed away, Sunday, April 19, 2015.
He was born May 3, 1942 in Douglas Co., GA to the late Charlie Allen Worthan and Dessie Knight Hale. He was a Veteran of the US Army and retired from law enforcement after 33 years of service with the Atlanta Police Department.

He worked for the Douglas County Sheriff’s office for six years and was the Head of Security for the Atlanta Falcons for 16 years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge 289 Post Master and Yaarab Shrine. He was a member of the Liberty Baptist Church of Douglasville. He was dearly loved by his friends, family and co-workers but most importantly, he was a loving and devoted husband to Linda, for 53 years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Wanda Worthan.
Survivors are his wife, Linda Diane Grubb Worthan of Douglasville; children and their spouses: Lynn and Tim Digsby of Villa Rica, Dwayne and Carole Worthan of Douglasville, Tony and Jenni Worthan of Temple; brothers and sisters and their spouses: Seydell and Fred Alexander of Fairmont, GA, Alan and Pat Worthan of Douglasville, Debbie and Randy Coleman of Crossville, TN and Pam Reed of Douglasville, David and Rita Goolsby, of Winston, Lynn & Kathy Kisselburg of Blue Ridge, GA; 12 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, 12 nieces and 11 nephews.
Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at 2:00 PM at the Liberty Baptist Church, 1651 S. Burnt Hickory Rd., Douglasville, 30134 with Rev. Terry Marbut officiating. Interment will follow in the Douglasville City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends, Tuesday, April 21, 2015 from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM at the funeral home.
