At a young age she met and married the love of her life, John Sidney Harmon. There was a very special bond between John and Jean and that bond kept them together for 56 years until John’s passing. People who knew John and Jean would always say there wasn’t a ‘John’ without a ‘Jean’ because the two shared one soul. Jean was a very creative person who loved cooking and gardening, and enjoyed playing cards with friends, singing in the choir, and taking trips with her family and church friends.
She was a devoted and faithful member of Heritage Baptist Church where she sang in the “Young at Heart” senior choir, and the Pioneers senior adult group. She was a homemaker as well as a school bus driver for various school systems until her retirement with the Douglas County school system. Jean was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, John Sidney Harmon; brother, Marcus Lowenthal; sisters: Francis Wilson, Martha Starnes, and Rose Howard.
She is survived by her children and their spouses: John Keith Harmon, and his wife, Diane, of Dallas, Georgia; Connie Banks, and her husband, Jeff Olney, of Milton, Georgia; Vicki Sukoloski, and her husband, William, of Dallas, Georgia; and Traci Manning, and her husband, Donald, of Douglasville; grandchildren: Amanda Bumpus, and her husband, Eric; Craig Sukoloski; and Kayla Homan, and her husband, Ryan; great grandchildren: twins: Addison Potter and Caitlin Potter, Emma Bumpus, Mason Bumpus, and Ryland Homan; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, June 17, 2015, at 11:00 A.M. at Hightower’s Memorial Chapel with Pastor Donald Manning and Pastor Gene Fields officiating.
Interment will follow in the Meadowbrook Memory Gardens in Villa Rica.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, June 16, 2015 from 6:00-8:00 P.M.
