Joe Baggett House passed away on Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at the age of 84. He was born in Douglasville on December 28, 1930 to his parents, the late Walter Lawrence House, Sr. and Julia Baggett House.

Raised in Douglasville, Mr. House served both his community and his country. After graduating from Southern Technical Institute, Joe became a mechanical engineer and co-owner of Douglasville Concrete Company. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Korean War. Continuing his commitment to his hometown, Joe was also a Mason with the Douglasville Masonic Lodge and a lifelong member of Douglasville First United Methodist Church.

In addition to his parents, Mr. House was preceded in death by his brother, Walter Lawrence House, Jr.

Joe House is survived by his wife, Betty Whorton House, as well as his children: his daughters, Deborah Spiva and her husband, Jerry; Tracy Schwartz and her husband, Hamilton; Darla Bragg and her husband, Scott; and his son, Dennis House. He is also survived by his sister Judy Thompson and her husband, Elton; brother Charles House and his wife, Mike; sister-in-law, Helen House; his grandchildren, Blair Spiva; Jon Spiva and his wife, Andrea; Rebecca House; Michael Bragg; Alex Bragg and his wife, Maura; and his great grandchildren, Landon Spiva and Luke Spiva.

The family received friends at the funeral home on Thursday, June 25, 2015 from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. The funeral was held at Hightower’s Memorial Chapel with Rev. John Pinson officiating. Interment will follow at Rosehaven Memorial Park with Masonic Rites.
