John Lafayette Jester, age 79 of Douglasville, passed away, Thursday, July 2, 2015. He was born October 26, 1935 in Ashville, AL. He was retired with 48 years of service, the Director of Distribution with Flowers Baking Company, Villa Rica, GA location. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Douglasville, the Son Risers Bible Study Class and an avid golfer.

Survivors are his wife of 58 years, Norma Mattison Jester; his children: Teresa Crum, Angela Anderson and her husband, John, Sheila Matthews and her husband, Alan; sister: Jean Morgan; brother: Lloyd Jester; grandchildren: Taylor Anderson, Andrea Anderson, John Mark Anderson, Bart Crum, Sean Crum, Tyler Crum, Chelsea Crum, Morgan Matthews and Jordan Matthews; great granddaughter: Scarlette Crum.

He was preceded in death by his father, Marshal Levi Jester, mother, Bertha Fail Jester and sister, Evelyn Nabors.

A private memorial will be held at a later date.

In accordance with his wishes, his body was cremated.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a hospice center of your choice or the Alzheimer’s Association.
