Lawrence H. “Larry” Hennesy, Jr., age 80, of Winston, passed away Thursday, February 12, 2015. He was a long-time resident of Douglas County. He was born on September 4, 1934, the son of the late Lawrence H. Hennesy, Sr. and the late Bessie Fae Duren Hennesy. He was a retired veteran of the United States Navy having served aboard the USS Forrestal Aircraft Carrier. He also retired from Loral Vought Systems Corporation, a defense contractor. Mr. Hennesy was a member of the Prays Mill Baptist Church in Douglasville where he served as a long-time Sunday School Teacher and Deacon. He enjoyed gardening, wood-working and cutting fire wood. He was an active member of the support group at Douglas General Hospital for those dealing with Parkinson’s disease. The group was recently named in honor of Mr. Hennesy and is now known as the Hennesy Parkinson’s Support Group.

Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Marcia Hennesy of Millington, TN, and Reverend Kenneth and Renee Hennesy of Lithia Springs; grandchildren: Jennifer Hennesy of Lithia Springs, Meghan and Jason Rathel of Lithia Springs, Matthew and Kim Hennesy of Winston, and Joshua Hennesy of Lithia Springs; great-grandchildren, Lydia Law and Charlotte Hennesy; brother-in-law, Charles Tillman Fouts and his wife, Jenny, of Jacksonville, FL; nephew: Chris Fouts and his wife, Cary of Douglasville; great-nephew, Spencer Fouts of Douglasville.

Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, February 15, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. from Hightower’s Memorial Chapel with Reverend Kenneth Hennesy and Reverend Josh Buice officiating.

Interment will follow in the Prays Mill Cemetery with the United States Navy providing military honors.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, February 14, 2015 from 4:00-8:00 P.M.
