Mrs. Raye Gillis, age 75, of Lithia Springs, Georgia passed away Thursday, March 12, 2015. She was born April 19, 1939 in Brookhaven, GA, the daughter of the late William Griggs and Grace Teal Griggs.

Raye retired from the Douglas County Board of Education and was a member of County Line Baptist Church. She is survived by her children; John Stephen Gillis and his wife Patricia, Kathry G. McCrary; Anne G. Smith; Thomas A. Gillis and his wife Melissa; and J. Perry Gillis, Sr. and his wife Beverly; grandchildren; Daniel Gillis, Amber Gillis, Grace Gillis, Julie Ryll, Ashford Gillis and James P. Gillis, Jr.; great-granddaughter, Madison Loden; sister, Mary Fortney; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband John C. Gillis; sister, Elizabeth Wilson, and son-in-law, Pete McCrary.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2015 at 2:00 PM at County Line Baptist Church in Lithia Springs, GA. She will lie in state from 1:00-2:00 PM at the church. Reverend Bryan Alexander will be officiating. Interment will follow at County Line Baptist church cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Friday, March 13, 2015 from 5:00-9:00 PM at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in honor of her grandson, Ashford Gillis.
