In Memory: Robert Cornelius Holcombe, 95, of Douglasville
He was veteran of the United States Army and was on a supply unit for the front lines during WWII's Battle of the Bulge.

Mr. Robert Cornelius Holcombe, age 95, of Douglasville, passed away Friday, August 07, 2015. He was born in Smyrna, Georgia on June 18, 1920, the son of the late Martin Luther and Margaret Barnett Holcombe. Mr. Holcombe was a World War II Veteran of the United States Army on a supply unit for the front lines during the Battle of the Bulge in Belgium, France, and Luxemburg. He retired from Fulton County Government as General Maintenance Technician for the Fulton County Airport. He was a member of the Liberty Baptist Church in Winston.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.

He is survived by his wife of 74 years: Mary Jewel Crenshaw Holcombe of Douglasville; children and their spouse: Bobby and Ethel Holcombe of Douglasville, Betty and Dennis Brock of Donalsonville, Georgia, Brenda and Jack Lanier, Jr., of Longview, Texas, Barbara and Hezekiah Hudson of Powder Springs, Bernice Smith of Newport News, Virginia, Becky and Terry Marchant of McDonough, and Bonitta and Robert Black of Martinez; 21 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren with 2 more on the way; numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, August 8, 2015 from 4:00-8:00 P.M.

The Funeral service for Mr. Holcombe will be at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, August 9, 2015at Liberty Baptist Church in Winston with Pastor Joey Vaughan and Brother Richard Bowen officiating. Mr. Holcombe will lie-in-state from 1:00 P.M. until the funeral hour.
Interment will follow in Sunrise Memorial Gardens with Military Honors. Carl Holcombe, Jimmy Holcombe, Jason Smith, Keith Marchant, Nathan Marchant, and Jay Lanier will serve as Pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers will be Brent Lanier, Robert Holcombe, Donald Holcombe, Christopher Marchant, and Joshua Hudson.
