Movie Shoot in Douglasville Begins Next Week
Filming of "The Founder," starring Michael Keaton and Laura Dern, will close roads in downtown in June and July.

The scheduled filming in downtown Douglasville for an upcoming movie will result in some road closures in June and July, and perhaps a chance to see Oscar nominees Michael Keaton and Laura Dern around town.

Main Street Douglas posted on Facebook that filming for “The Founder” will close Church Street on June 11, 12 and 25, and July 10. The set is expected to be closed.

On the days they are shooting, the following streets will be closed: Church Street between Price Avenue and Club Drive, East Courthouse Square and West Courthouse Square. Bowden Street will be closed between spring and Church Street. The parking deck will be accessed from the Spring Street entrance/exit. Broad Street will not be impacted by the production. Your patience during this exciting time is appreciated.

The movie, expected to be released next year stars Keaton and Dern in the story of McDonald’s founder Ray Kroc, played by Keaton. Both actors are previous Academy Award nominees.
An old-style McDonald’s set, with golden arches, has been constructed for the film, the Douglas County Sentinel reported.
