New Douglas Animal Shelter To Open Tuesday
Douglas County's new animal shelter will be at Deer Lick Park and be double the size of the county's current facility.

DOUGLASVILLE, GA — Douglas County will get its first look at a newly constructed animal shelter on Tuesday.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony at the shelter, at 2171 Mack Rd., is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Tuesday. The new facilities will more than double the space available to care for lost, neglected, abused and discarded dogs and cats, according to shelter staff.
Tuesday's ribbon-cutting will provide an opportunity for visitors to tour the new shelter before animals arrive. An open-house event has been scheduled for Saturday, May 20, when the shelter will be fully operational and animals will be on site.

Following the cereomony, refreshments will be available and tours of the state-of-the-art facility will be conducted.
