Ebony Payne, 19, will be assistant directing "Storyville Blues," for a one-night-only showing at the 14th Street Playhouse in Atlanta.
Ebony Payne, a mere 19-years-old, moved to Douglasville just two months ago but is already chasing her Atlanta showbiz dreams by assistant directing a play at the 14th Street Playhouse.
"I moved here just to pursue my aspirations of being a filmmaker, actor and writer," she said. "I love every aspect of this art!"
The production Ebony is assistant directing is "Storyville Blues." Written and produced by Cassandra Powell, it will be featured one-night-only, on Friday, Aug. 23, at Atlanta's 14th Street Playhouse.
According to the playbill, "Storyville Blues is a colorful and provocative portrayal of African-American women during the early Jazz Era. Set in the segregated city of New Orleans in 1915, the play explores a forbidden brothel.
"I had to be a part of this production," says Ebony who left her home in Baltimore, Maryland to launch her new career. "It's exciting. I'm happy to be a part of a show like this in any way I can. (Powell) is a very talented writer."
