Patricia ‘Patty’ M. Cox, 71, Dies

Patricia ‘Patty’ M. Cox, 71 of Villa Rica, passed away Friday, Oct. 25. She was born Dec. 14, 1941 in New Orleans. She earned her Master’s degree in School Administration from Nova University and taught elementary school. Patty retired from Pinellas County School System in Clearwater, FL. as an elementary school administrator.

Patty was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and a loyal friend to all. She was an avid reader and enjoyed playing golf with her many friends at Mirror Lake.  She was a member of Ephesus Baptist Church, where she served in the church nursery caring for her babies.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Mary Newbough Martin.
She is survived by her husband, James J. Cox; daughter, Marylee A. Woodfin; daughter, Michele Patterson and husband Bobby; granddaughter, Kali Patterson; grandsons, Gabe Patterson and Dempsey Abernathy; brother, William Martin, Jr. and wife Laura; and sister, Lee Ann Collier.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, Oct. 28, from 4 until 8 p.m. The funeral service will be Tuesday, Oct. 29, at 11 a.m. at Ephesus Baptist Church with Dr. Billy Godwin and Dr. Gerald Harris officiating.  Interment will follow at Ephesus Baptist Church Cemetery.
