Replace a Broken Window Pane

Tools needed for this project: hammer, chisel, putty knife, caulk gun.

1. Remove all broken glass and clean out old glazing compound.

2. Measure the window opening, subtracting 1/16 of an inch from each side, allowing room to slide in the new window pane. The piece of glass can be purchased and cut and .

3. Use the caulk gun to run caulk around the entire window frame, creating a seal around the window without using old-fashioned push pins risking breaking the glass.

4. Press in new glass piece, using the caulk gun to apply the new glazing compound.

5. Smooth out the glaze with a putty knife.

6. Let set for 12 hours and then paint, if necessary.
