Save a Life: Donate Unwanted Healthcare Equipment This Saturday
Wheelchairs, walkers, canes, hospital beds, among items accepted at Benton House.

From Douglas County:
Dozens of families in Douglas County are in need of critical care items such as canes, walkers and wheelchairs. Chances are those life-saving tools may be collecting dust at your home or that of someone you know. Now’s the time to gather up that equipment, and place it in the hands of a person who can use it to better their quality of life. In some instances, walkers and canes can actually save elderly residents from a fall that could be deadly.
The healthcare equipment collection is a program of Douglas County TRIAD, a joint effort of Douglas County government, senior citizen organizations, community care staff, and other professionals working with seniors in our community. TRIAD is a National coordination which has the goals of reducing criminal victimization of older persons, improving quality of life for older adults, educating the community to implement solutions, and enhancing delivery of law enforcement services to the elderly.

“This is the first time we have done a program of this kind,” said Vanessa Blair, Community Relations Director, Benton House of Douglasville. “We get phone calls often from people who have things they want to donate and from those families who have a need.”
The process to donate is simple. Benton House at 4999 Prestley Mill Road, Douglasville, GA will accept donations from 9am to 2pm on Saturday, September 13th.

“We will take most everything that has to do with healthcare equipment. For example, wheelchairs, walkers, canes, hospital beds, portable restroom facilities, and other care items”, said Blair. “Wyatt Pharmacy of Lithia Springs will store the equipment for future use by those in our community who need it.”
