Seen on Facebook: DCSO Says Don't Become Scam Victim

Phone scams in which the caller poses as a law-enforcement officer and demands a fine needs to be paid or you’ll go to jail have been widespread throughout Douglas County and the rest of metro Atlanta.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office warned on Facebook that officers will never demand legal payments over the phone. The office says it has received numerous reports of such scam attempts.

Don’t fall victim, even if a caller sounds legitimate. Hang up, and call the police.
