State Patrol: Holiday Traffic Deaths Nearly Doubles 2013 Total

2 of the deaths were reported in Troop D, which includes Douglas County.

The Georgia State Patrol said the number of traffic deaths on state roads during the Thanksgiving break nearly doubled the 2013 count.

In statistics released Monday, the patrol said 19 traffic deaths were reported during the 102-hour holiday period — 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 26 to midnight Sunday, Nov. 30.

The 2013 total for the same period was 10.

The agency said 15 of the deaths were investigated by the GSP, 4 by local agencies.

Two deaths were reported in the Troop D area, which includes Douglas County.
