Strong Storm Cell Hits Douglasville Area

Area residents were urged Wednesday afternoon to take shelter by the National Weather Service.

DOUGLASVILLE, GA — Residents in the Douglasville area were being warned to take cover immediately Wednesday afternoon due to a strong thunderstorm in the area.

The National Weather Service reported the storm over Brownsville, near Douglasville, at 3:37 p.m. It was moving northeast at 40 m.p.h.

The advisory covered north Fulton, northeastern Douglas, Cobb and southeastern Paulding counties and was in effect until 4:15 p.m.

Penny-sized hail was reported and weather officials said damage to tree limbs was expected. People outdoors were advised to immediately take shelter.
