- The six Douglas County Teacher of the Year semifinalists – narrowed down from 35 candidates – will find out who the Teacher of the Year is on Sept. 22. - A garden at the Nichols Center in downtown Douglasville was dedicated on Wednesday to the memory of the founding director's son on International Overdose Awareness Day. The Kirk Nichols Memorial Garden opened during a public candlelight ceremony as names of those who have passed due to substance use or mental health disorders were read.
