Teen Charged With Arson In Intentional Douglasville Fire

The fire affected a playground area in the Brookfield Village neighborhood.

DOUGLASVILLE, GA —A teenage boy was arrested Wednesday in connection with an early March fire in the Brookfield Village neighborhood, according to the Douglas County Fire Department.

Fire officials said Thursday the boy is being charged on suspicion of arson.

The fire, which officials said was purposely set, caused damage to a playground fence area around 6 p.m., March 8, near Fall Creek Trace.

The teen's arrest Wednesday came a day after fire investigators sought information for a potential witness.

“We are thankful to the citizens who came forth to help solve this case and we hope this sends a message that arson will not be tolerated in Douglas County," Dr. Miles Allen, Douglas County interim fire chief, said in a news release.
