Thomas ‘Tommy’ Lewis Merritts, 59, Dies

The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 4 to 8 p.m.

Thomas ‘Tommy’ Lewis Merritts, 59 of Powder Springs, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 5. He was born May 27, 1954 in Atlanta.

Mr. Merritts was a heating and air technician and worked for Cobb Heating and Air for many years. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Douglasville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Fannie Merritts and his brother, Barry Merritts.

He is survived by his brother, Johnny Merritts and wife Jane; sister, Rachel Grimes and husband Donald; sister, Teresa Booth; nephew, Todd Merritts; niece, Shanda Zachmeyer and husband Scott; great-nephew, Tate Zachmeyer; great-nieces, Maisie Zachmeyer, Cari Zachmeyer, Kylee Merritts, and Cloi Merritts.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 4 to 8 PM. His memorial service will be Friday, Nov. 8, at 2 p.m. in the Rosehaven Chapel with Dr. John Pennington and Pastor Russell Murdock officiating. Inurnment will be in Rosehaven Memorial Park.
