Truck Crashes into Kroger on Hwy 5

A driver lost control and plowed through the parking lot, hitting three parked cars, until finally smashing into the store.

A driver lost control of his small pickup truck at approximately 7:45 a.m. and drove off the road, plowing through the grocery store parking lot on Hwy 5, hitting three parked cars, before eventually crashing into the building.  The driver was taken to as a precautionary measure with no obvious injuries.  The parked cars were unoccupied and no one else was injured.

Sergeant Brad Loudermilk, , said a witness traveling behind the vehicle reported that the truck was traveling south on Hwy 5 and suddenly went off the road and through the parking lot, approximately 300 feet, before hitting the store.

"The man apparently had a medical condition," Loudermilk said.  "He didn't have any visible injuries and did not appear to be intoxicated."  The driver's estimated age is around 50.

Loudermilk said the charge of "failure to maintain lane" is pending.  A police report with further details and the driver's name should be available later today or tomorrow.
