Villa Rica 4th Of July Fireworks: 2018 Guide

Here's your complete guide to Fourth of July fireworks shows, bands and other festive events in Villa Rica.

VILLA RICA, GA — The 13th Annual Fireworks Display Extravaganza is a free event being held Tuesday, July 3 at the Villa Rica Civic Center & Sports Complex, or V-Plex, located at 1605 Highway 61, Villa Rica.

On Wednesday, a 40 percent chance for rain kicks in at about 9 a.m. and lasts all day. Wednesday night's low is expected to be around 73 under partly cloudy skies. We'll have that same 40 percent chance after dark, so keep an eye on the latest forecasts. Thursday, though, that chance will jump up to 50 percent, the National Weather Service says.

Tuesday: A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms before 1 p.m, then a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 3 p.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 91. Light east wind becoming southeast 5-10 m.p.h. in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent. A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms Tuesday night, mainly before 3 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 74. East wind around 5 m.p.h.

Independence Day: A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 9 a.m. Mostly sunny, with a high near 89. East wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 15 m.p.h. Wednesday night, a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly cloudy, with a low around 73.

Thursday: A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly sunny, with a high near 87. A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms again Thursday night. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 72.

As part of the City of Villa Rica’s Special Events, the Parks, Recreation, Leisure Services Department invites the public to come be a part of its annual fireworks extravaganza. The fireworks presentation will be conducted by East Coast Pyrotechnics which produces hundreds of fireworks shows annually. This year’s event will kick-off at 5 p.m. and include a national anthem performance by 16-year-old, American Idol contestant Andrew Weaver.

This year’s concert event will open with performances by Head Games – A Tribute to Foreigner from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Head Games is a tribute band based out of Atlanta, who perfectly recreate one of the best known musical groups, Foreigner. They play all the well-loved top songs, from the 70s, 80s, and 90s.

At 7:30 p.m. the event’s headlining act, Departure – A Journey Tribute Band, will take the stage. In their
10th year together, Departure is the most respected Journey tribute band in the nation. Departure replicates the look, sound and feel of the original 80s rock group; Journey. These veteran musicians have developed an amazing on-stage chemistry. Dressed in the iconic tuxedo jacket, Departure lead vocalist, Brian Williams, has an amazing singing voice flawlessly matching Steve Perry’s vocal range and on-stage movements.

The City is appreciative of its many event sponsors. One sponsor, Liberty Chevrolet, is offering a Spin the Wheel for $10,000 contest from 7 – 7:30 p.m. Other event attractions include helicopter rides for $30 from 4 - 9 p.m. Carnival rides, caricature artist, face painting, and inflatable slides are available from 4:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. Ticket prices for these activities range by vendor from $10 - $20.

Food and cold drinks will be available for purchase on site in the park. This event offers great activities and experiences for the whole family. The crowd is expected to reach over 15,000 so get there early.

Limited parking is available on site; however, there are several large parking areas in the vicinity. Save time now and order VIP parking passes for $10 while supplies. T-shirts will be available for $10 at the event.
