Villa Rica Man Murdered, Police Search for 2 Suspects

Henry Junior Mathis, 46 of Villa Rica, died Monday evening after being shot several times on the 300 block of Thomas Dorsey Drive, in Villa Rica. The Villa Rica Police are searching for two suspects in connection to the murder.

Police found Mathis lying on the sidewalk as they responded to a shooting call at 9:10 p.m. on Memorial day. Mathis was still alive when officers arrived and was transported to Tanner Hospital in Villa Rica where he later died from his injuries.

The initial investigation indicated that Mathis was involved in a verbal argument with Jaydrekus Cartez Hart, 22 from Villa Rica, according to Capt. Keith Shaddix of the Villa Rica Criminal Investigations Division. During this time Hart took a gun from a vehicle driven by Joshua Antonio Arnold, 22 from Villa Rica. Hart then shot Mathis multiple times and was driven away from the scene by Arnold.

Arrest warrants have been issued for Hart and Arnold for the charge of murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. No photos of Hart or Arnold are being released at this time due to the continued investigation of this incident.
