From Douglas County:

The Citizens’ Christmas Tree is a live deodora cedar tree that is on the grounds of the Douglas County Courthouse adjacent to Hospital Drive. The tree was planted in 2007 after the widening of Hospital Drive was complete, and the tree lighting program began that year.

The Citizens’ Christmas Tree was the idea of Douglas County Commission Chairman Tom Worthan who wanted an outdoor Christmas tree at the Courthouse as a symbol of the community coming together and celebrating. The tree stays lighted through the Christmas holiday.
