Watch Spelling Bee Kids Compete For Douglas County Champ

DOUGLASVILLE, GA – This year's winning words were barrage and macadamia, as in nuts. But what's really nuts is that Mariah McBee is the 2018 Douglas County Spelling Bee champ! With a name like McBee how much more stress was she under to win?

Fast forward to the end or watch every nail-biting moment of the 2018 Douglas County Spelling Bee, which was held Feb. 1 at the Douglas County Courthouse. McBee is a 6th grader at Factory Shoals Middle School. She will advance to the region competition in Atlanta on Feb. 24.

The second place winner was Zachary Armas, 7th grade, Mason Creek Middle School. The 3rd place winner Lauren Queen, 7th grade, Fairplay Middle School; and Superintendent Trent North. The judges were: Rebecca Jackson, Victoria Burnett, Tennile Edwards and McKeith Cordell.
