High school football is back and now every team in the area has at least one game under its belt. Here’s a brief look at the football action from the weekend in Douglasville Patch

Hiram 21, 14 – On the Tigers first offensive play of the game, quarterback Ellis Richardson hit Curtis Mosley with a 10-yard pass that Mosley took 70 more yards after the catch for a touchdown to open the scoring Friday. Hiram scored the next two touchdowns and added the nail in the coffin in the third quarter to get away with a one-touchdown victory.

Northgate 45, Alexander 13 – Northgate gained 378 yards on offense Friday against and registered six sacks on Dempsey Abernathy as the Cougars were manhandled in their opener. Abernathy did score late in the game on a 2-yard run and he hit Ben Washington in the first quarter on a 9-yard touchdown pass.

East Coweta 31, Chapel Hill 6 – got on the scoreboard just once Friday as Devin White burst open and caught a 31-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Chris Andrews in the fourth quarter. Before that, the Panthers were outgained and overmatched in the contest.
