Dr. Pierluisi brings to WellStar more than 20 years of healthcare experience. Most recently, he served as vice president of emergency medicine services for Flagler Hospital in St. Augustine, FL.,. At the same time, he served as state surgeon/chief medical officer for the Army National Guard in Georgia (GAARNG). Under his oversight, the GAARNG's medical and dental readiness level ranked number one in the nation. He also has served as associate professor of emergency medicine at the Medical College of Georgia and assistant professor at the University of Alabama in Birmingham. Dr. Pierluisi earned his medical degree and did his emergency medicine residency at the State University of New York and completed an EMS fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh, He also has a master's degree in public health from the University of Pittsburgh and an MBA from Auburn University.
