Douglas' WellStar Recognized As Only Top General Hospital In GA

DOUGLASVILLE, GA – WellStar Douglas Hospital is the only hospital in Georgia to be named a Top General Hospital by the Leapfrog Group, a national independent hospital watchdog association. Based on quality and patient safety, the Leapfrog Top Hospital award is widely acknowledged as one of the most competitive honors American hospitals can receive. Douglas Hospital won the award for two consecutive years.

Only 6 percent of hospitals in the nation meet the criteria to qualify as a Leapfrog Top Hospital.

Performance across many areas of hospital care is considered to establish the qualifications for the award. Areas considered include: infection rates, maternity care, and the hospital’s capacity to prevent medication errors. The rigorous standards are defined in each year’s Top Hospital Methodology.
