Who Won At The Douglasville Gravity Games?
With 50 teams, this year's games were the largest in its three-year history.
DOUGLASVILLE, GA — On Saturday, Google, Georgia Tech and the City of Douglasville hosted the third annual Georgia Gravity Games in downtown Douglasville.
With more than 50 teams, this year’s event was the largest in its three-year history.
The gravity-only, single-elimination car race is an educational, hands-on activity designed to get young people excited about STEM subjects.

"Google is proud to call Georgia and Douglas County home to one of our data centers, and we’re excited to be a part of the Gravity Games, fostering engagement and generating interest in science, technology, engineering and mathematics among students across our state," said Russell Bonds, Google’s data center facilities manager.
The competition consisted of four divisions: stock (up to 200 pounds), super stock (up to 240 pounds), scottie stock (up to 255 pounds) and engineered.

This year’s Georgia Gravity Games also included a new award category for educational videos.
Teams were encouraged to create and submit a YouTube video explaining what they learned while building their cars. This year’s educational video winner was Mirror Lake Elementary School.

Stock Division:
First place — Douglas County Sheriffs’ Department
Second place — Mason Creek Elementary School
Superstock Divison:
First place — Michael Barnhill’s team
Second place — Mad Dog (Maddie Bonds)
Scottie Stock Division:
First place — Rossville Middle School
Second place — Mason Creek Elementary School
Engineering Division:
First place — Bill Arp Elementary School
Second place — Alexander High School
