WWII Vet Raymond S. Camp, 92, Dies

The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Raymond S. Camp, 92 of Douglasville, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 24. He was born Oct. 12, 1921 in Douglasville. Mr. Camp served his country as a Veteran of the U.S. Army during WWII in all five major battles of the European Theater. He retired from Western Electric with 40 years of service; was a member of the American Legion and was a life-long member of the First Baptist Church of Douglasville.

Mr. Camp was preceded in death by his beloved wife Johnnie Ruth Camp; grandson, Ross Cason Camp; his parents, Lone and Della Rice Camp; two sisters and one brother.

He is survived by son, Dr. Ray Camp; grandson, Malone Camp and wife Christi; great-grandchildren, Max Camp and Colin Camp; son, Ronald E. Camp and wife Jennifer; grandchildren, Dr. Courtney Camp Highsmith and husband Brent, Lauren Camp Carsten and husband Brad; great-grandchildren, Campbell Highsmith and Henry Highsmith, Caroline Carsten and Ryan Carsten; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. The funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. in the Rosehaven Chapel with Reverend R. C. Watson officiating. Interment will follow at Sunrise Memorial Gardens.
