Duluth High School Weekly Sports Review
Wildcats baseball team continues its surge, winning two this week and five of the last six games.

DULUTH – The big news in Duluth High School sports this week was the hiring of two new coaches as reported by Duluth Patch on Friday.
Athletic Director Bill Navas announced that Stephen Fairchild, who coached the Wildcats wrestling team several years ago before he was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer, will return as head wrestling coach. Fairchild is no stranger to Duluth students and faculty. He has been at the school for 14 years. Navas also announced that Eddie Hood is the new boys basketball coach.
BASEBALL

Duluth won a pair of games this week and has now won five of its last six games. The Wildcats beat visiting Peachtree Ridge 4-3 on Thursday as Zack Erwin (5-1) gave up only two earned runs while striking out six. Alex Raffensperger and John Clark each had a pair of hits.
Duluth (10-5, 5-4) capped off the week with a 4-3 win over North Gwinnett.

BOYS TENNIS
LAWRENCEVILLE — Duluth swept Mountain View 5-0 on Tuesday in Region 7-AAAAA. The loss dropped Mountain View to 2-12 overall and 1-5 in the region.
GIRLS TENNIS
LAWRENCEVILLE — Mountain View (8-6, 2-4) rolled over Duluth 4-1 Tuesday in a Region 7-AAAAA match. The Bears Meg Mullins and Bri Norris won at No. 1 and Victoria Mock and Emily Lopez won at No. 2.
BOYS LACROSSE
DULUTH — Garrett Gorski scored five goals and added two assists as Grayson routed Duluth 15-0 on Tuesday to lift its overall record to 6-4. Keeper Josh Parris started the match and turned in six saves before giving way to Danny Tressler, who recorded two saves for the Rams. Ben Mertz scored three goals and chipped in with two assists.
GIRLS LACROSSE
LILBURN — Parkview outlasted visiting Duluth 10-9 on Wednesday. Ail Cole was the leading scorer in the match with four goals for Duluth (4-5). Keeper Paige Falkowski turned in an impressive performance with 10 saves in goal. But it wasn't enough for the Wildcats. Parkview's Sammi Bosler and Bethany Barbour scored two goals each, and Riley Fields and Juilete Tang scored one each to lead the Panthers (3-8).
GIRLS SOCCER
NORCROSS — Four games into region play, Duluth posted its first 7-AAAAA win of the season, an impressive 9-0 shut out of Meadowcreek. Tamaya Tompoe led the way for the Wildcats (6-3-1, 1-3)with two goals. Daniela Diaz, Tylyn Avila, Erin Falk, Shannon Coulombe, Sarah Miller, Bekka Cancino and Colette Leime all scored for Duluth.
