Georgia Connections Academy, the state’s highest academic performing completely online K-12 public charter school, has 500 seats open in grades K-12 for the coming 2016-2017 school year, announced Executive Director Heather J. Robinson.
Georgia Connections Academy (GACA) provides free public education by state certified Georgia teachers to K-12 students in any county of Georgia over the computer. Parents can learn more about the school now through information sessions being held throughout the state or through live online sessions.
The information sessions review the school’s curriculum, programs and provide opportunities to ask questions of teachers and currently enrolled families. A list of all in-person and online events is available here: www.ConnectionsAcademy.com/GACAevents.

Executive Director Robinson encourages families to register now. The school’s K-12 enrollment is capped at 4000 students.
“Georgia Connections Academy gives my children more classroom and curriculum choices, while giving me the opportunity to be more involved in their schooling,” said Angela Ray, of Dacula.

“Thank you to the Governor, the Board of Education, and Legislature for providing funding for charter education. My family and I are thriving in the online classroom,” said Melanie Creviston, Suwanee.
The top reasons parents choose a virtual charter, like GACA, for their children, according to CEO Robinson, are:
-The student learns at a different pace—faster or slower—and the benefit of personalized learning and pacing from an online education will keep them engaged;
-The traditional classroom is not addressing the child’s needs to stay focused or recover self-esteem, especially if bullying is a factor;
-The child’s athletic/performance/health schedule demands the flexibility of online education.
"Sometimes students need a break from the traditional brick-and-mortar setting and find that a virtual public charter school can help them catch up or take a break from the day-to-day peer pressures of school," said Principal Robinson. "We provide a change of mindset."
More than a quarter of a million American students in grades K-12 get their education virtually. GACA recently held its fourth graduation ceremony in Duluth for 200 seniors from nearly every county in the state. The graduating seniors racked up $746,000 in scholarships to colleges around the country.
“We are very proud of our graduates. Any student from any county can attend Georgia Connections Academy, a free virtual K-12 charter school,” said Executive Director Robinson. Parents can visit www.GeorgiaConnectionsAcademy.com for more information about enrollment.
