Georgia United Credit Union Invites Local Schools to Apply to Win a School Crashers Makeover

Georgia United Credit Union is excited to announce the return of its annual School Crashers makeover program

Accredited public or private elementary, middle or high schools in Georgia are encouraged to apply for a School Crashers makeover that will be funded by Georgia United and involve school and community volunteers. Nominations will be accepted Tuesday, March 22 through Tuesday, April 19, 2016.

The online School Crashers nomination process takes place at www.gucu.org/schoolcrashers. Applicants must complete the entire form, including a 250 word summary of why their school deserves a makeover. The top winner will be announced on Tuesday, May 24, 2016.

This will be the third year that Georgia United has offered School Crashers makeovers. Last year’s winning school was Woodward Elementary in DeKalb County. Woodward’s makeover was chosen from among hundreds of nominations from schools across the state. Additional runner-up schools that also received school improvement grants in 2015 were:

· Kelley Lake Elementary – DeKalb County - $17,000 outdoor classroom grant

· Laurel Ridge Elementary – DeKalb County - $16,000 wheelchair ramp grant

· Cohutta Elementary – Whitfield County - $12,000 carpet and landscaping grant

· Peachtree Elementary – Gwinnett County - $9,000 media center grant

· Brockett Elementary – DeKalb County - $2,500 kiln & art supply grant

Once the 2016 School Crashers winner has been chosen, there will be opportunities for community members, educators, parents and students to join Georgia United team members to volunteer for this School Crashers event which will take place in July.
