Happy Thursday, Duluth! Let's get you all caught up on what's happening locally to start today off on an informed note.
First, today's weather:
Partly sunny. High: 81 Low: 62.
Here are the top stories in Duluth today:
- After last weekend's mishap at the Norcross apartments, some Gwinnett County fire officials have released warnings about carbon monoxide poisoning. Some of their recommendations are to keep generators outside, and install carbon monoxide detectors in all homes. (CBS46 News Atlanta)
- Our neighbors in Alpharetta are searching for a runaway 16-year-old girl. Investigators have no real guesses to where she could be located, but think she may be somewhere in our area or around Roswell. Her name is Yuridia Rivera, and if you have any information on her whereabouts, read the article and reach out to Alpharetta officials. (FOX 5 Atlanta)
- After receiving public input about what to do with Gwinnett Place Mall, county leaders are starting to talk about their plans. The community has had a tremendous say into what the space should be used for. Plans will be made soon, and we are definitely excited to see what's next for our local community! (CBS46)
- Gwinnett County is expanding its communications outreach by creating a new communications department. This decision is in response to the urgent need for the county to inform residents about events, policies, elections, and programs. (Atlanta Journal Constitution)
- One of the newest Gwinnett police recruits has died following a medical emergency on his 2nd day of training. His name is Ronald Jean Donat, and he started feeling lethargic and weak during training early Tuesday morning. He was rushed to the hospital, where he died, after medial personnel performed life-saving techniques on him. My deepest condolences go out to the officer's family. ( The Atlanta Journal Constitution)
