The Music Class Offers Dunwoody Families a Safe Space to Gather

After months of isolation, Dunwoody families are preparing to gather together in-person for music classes. The Music Class (TMC), a local owned and operated music education company for young children, has been offering classes virtually since the spread of the pandemic hit home in early March. At Home TMC offerings have allowed families to continue making music throughout these uncertain times, and now with proper planning and care the organization is ready to bring members of the TMC community together for cautious, outdoor programming.

Just steps away from their Dunwoody studio on Dunwoody Village Parkway, TMC has created a vast outdoor space equipped with artificial grass that is carefully marked with spots for each family to make music safely – six feet apart from their classmates. Other precautions have also been taken: the outdoor space provides the proper air flow needed to hold class safely, all adults are required to wear a mask, the class capacity has been limited to ensure social distancing, and the instructor is equipped with a mask, shield and microphone! “In a time when we all crave connection and community, we felt compelled to create a safe, musical environment in which to bring our families a sense normalcy and joy,” said Rob Sayer, founder and director of The Music Class.

Instructors and families excitedly await the start of classes this week. With all proper safety precautions set in place in the outdoor classroom, the only thing left to put in place is the sound of families making music and enjoying a rare, shared in-person experience.
