Hall County deputy on leave for making harassing phone calls (fox5atlanta.com) — A Hall County Sheriff's deputy from Gainesville has been placed on paid administrative leave after Gainesville police charged him with making harassing phone calls. Officials say the deputy was arrested at sheriff's headquarters, briefly jailed, and released on bond. The sheriff's office is keeping him off duty while Gainesville police continue their investigation, with further details still pending.
   

2. Rep. Clyde Accepting Applications for Nomination to U.S. Service Academies (house.gov) — Students in Gainesville and the rest of Georgia's Ninth District can now apply through Rep. Andrew Clyde's office for nominations to U.S. Service Academies for the Class of 2031, with an October 23, 2026 deadline.
