The Cherokee County Board of Elections will hold a called meeting on Thursday to consider a petition from Carolyn Cosby to gain placement on the Nov. 4 ballot for the county commission chair race.

The board will meet at 4:30 p.m. July 31 at the Stone Elections Building, located at 400 East Main Street in downtown Canton.

Cosby earlier this month submitted a petition with roughly 7,750 signatures in an effort to be placed as an Independent candidate to challenge incumbent Republican Buzz Ahrens for the seat in the general election.
