DDA to Examine Farmer's Market, Developer Update

The Holly Springs Downtown Development Authority will take a look at the city's plans for a farmer's market and review an update from the city manager on downtown development during their regular meeting Wednesday evening.

The first topic on the agenda is the discussion of a farmer's market for the Holly Springs area. DDA member Kimberly Atlee gave a presentation on the proposed farmer's market during last month's meeting. 

Farmer's markets are a growing facet of life in Cherokee County, with many cities and towns hosting regular farmer's markets or planning to host them.

City Manager Rob Logan will then give an update on development in the downtown Holly Springs area. During the city council's recent retret to Brasstown Valley Resort, developers outlined their plans to create a downtown area modeled after Atlanta's Vinings Jubilee area.

Logan told the Cherokee Tribune that Holly Springs has never had a "proper" downtown area, and the new developments would give the city a central point for commerce and social life that most other Cherokee cities already have.

Following Logan's presentation, the DDA will review updates to their bylaws and post an opening for a new DDA member. The meeting will close out with proposals and nominations for the group's elections in April.

The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. in council chambers at the Holly Springs Municipal Complex.
