UPDATE: Panel Ready to Decide Kelly Marlow's Fate
The three-person panel meeting to determine if Cherokee School Board member Kelly Marlow should be suspended will soon issue a recommendation.

Cherokee County residents could soon learn if one of its newest school board members will be suspended while a criminal case against her moves forward.Β
The three-person panel thatΒ met Thursday morningΒ to recommend whether Cherokee County School Board Member Kelly Marlow should be suspended has concluded its session, state officials said.
The meeting wrapped up this morning, and once the panel reaches a conclusion, it will forward its recommendation to Gov. Nathan Deal, saidΒ SpokeswomanΒ SashaΒ Dlugolenski. The recommendation will not be made public, and the governor has 14 days to make a decision.Β
Dlugolenski did not say when Gov.Β Deal is expected to make a decision.Β
During the hearing,Β Rachelle Carnesale, who is prosecuting the case in Cherokee against Marlow,Β told the panel the school board memberΒ lied to authorities when she accusedΒ Superintendent of Schools Dr. Frank Petruzielo of tryingΒ to run her and two othersΒ overΒ in downtown CantonΒ after a tense school board meeting in June,Β according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.Β
Carnesale said Canton police were able to dispute Marlow's claim with video evidence. However,Β Marlow's attorney Brian Steel said his clientΒ did not lie to the police, and offeredΒ a crime scene analyst who producedΒ a video of Marlow crossing East Main Street as a car passed behind her, according to the AJC.Β
The panel,Β made up of Attorney GeneralΒ Sam Olens,Β Cobb County School Board MemberΒ Tim Stultz and Forsyth County School Board Member Ann Crow, will decideΒ whether Marlow should be suspended after being indicted four countsΒ onΒ making false statements.
Marlow in OctoberΒ was indicted on four counts of making false statementsΒ in relation toΒ allegationsΒ against the superintendent.Β
RobertΒ Trim, Marlow's partner and political advisor,Β was indictedΒ on three counts of making false statements. Barbara Knowles, secretary of the Cherokee County Republican Party,Β wasΒ indicted on one count of filing a false report and four counts of making false statements.Β
