Dan Moody Wins Another Key Republican Endorsement

Mark Burkhalter, the former state house speaker, is backing Moody's bid to win the 6th Congressional District race, the campaign said.

JOHNS CREEK, GA -- A former state legislator who was part of the incorporation wave across north Fulton County has weighed in on the race to fill the vacant 6th Congressional District seat.

Mark Burkhalter, former speaker of the Georgia House of Representatives, has endorsed Dan Moody in his bid to replace Tom Price in the seat, which stretches from East Cobb, to North Fulton and parts of DeKalb County.

“Dan has proven he can tackle the tough challenges; just ask the residents of Johns Creek,” said Burkhalter. “When I championed the creation of Johns Creek in the State House, Dan was the champion in the State Senate. We worked tirelessly to create Johns Creek and with Dan’s help, we got it done.”

Burkhalter represents the 6th Congressional District on the State Transportation Board and, most recently, the city of Johns Creek renamed its Newtown Park amphitheater in his honor.

Moody said he's proud to have Burkhalter's support, as they worked closely together transform the dream of incorporating Johns Creek and Milton into a reality.

“Mark supported me in my first campaign for State Senate, and I am thankful for his support again," Moody added. "I look forward to his advice should I be fortunate enough to serve our state again.”

The special election to fill the vacant seat will be held April 18. A runoff, if needed, is scheduled for June 20.
