According to WSB-TV, Christopher Sparkman’s lawsuit against FedEx argues that the company did not do enough to prevent employee Geddy Kramer from carrying out the shooting, citing his past as a red flag that the company should have taken seriously.

Kramer, 19, opened fire with a shotgun at the facility near the Cobb County airport on April 29, 2014, wounding six people before turning the gun on himself. In a suicide note, Kramer said that he was a sociopath, that he wanted to hurt people, and that he was fully responsible for the shooting.

Sparkman was the most severely injured victim, undergoing a laundry list of surgeries since April. According to his wife Jamie Lynn Sparkman’s blog, Christopher has recently returned home from the hospital after another bout with surgery and damaged bowels.

“Although Chris and I still struggle physically and emotionally, April 29 is now a great reminder for my family that the greatest gift we’ll ever receive is a chance at life,” Jamie Lynn wrote on the one year anniversary of the shooting.
