6-Year-Old Shooting Victim Released From Hospital

Police are still seeking leads in the shooting of Ni-Shawn Moore at a Lawrenceville party.

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA -- A 6-year-old boy who was shot while riding his bike at a Lawrenceville party was released from the hospital last week, police announced Monday.

But Gwinnett County Police are still looking for leads in the bizarre March 12 shooting of young Ni-Shawn Moore.

Police were called to the party at 6:18 p.m. When they arrived, they found the boy with a small wound on his chest.

According to police, Ni-Shawn was riding his bicycle in front of the home where the party was taking place when someone walked up and shot him.

Police said Monday they currently have no suspects, but have reason to believe there were "several potential witnesses" to the shooting, on Caboose Court.

In a news release, police spokeswoman Cpl. Michele Pihera emphasized the $2,000 reward available for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the case.

After the shooting, it was initially thought that Ni-Shawn had been shot with a BB or pellet gun because of the size of his wound, police said.

He was able to walk and speak normally and was taken to an area hospital by his mother. Once there, doctors determined his injuries were more serious than originally thought and that he had been hit by a small-caliber bullet, not a BB or pellet.

He was taken to Children’s at Egleston Pediatric Hospital in Atlanta, where he was originally listed in serious condition.
