A Gwinnett County detective created his own profile on the dating app in order to arrest the then-suspect.

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA — An armed robber whose victim was able to identify him from his profile on a dating app is headed to prison after being convicted in the case.
A Gwinnett County jury convicted Treston Rogers, 20, on one count of armed robbery Thursday. He was sentenced to 20 years, with 15 to serve in prison.
On June 12, Rogers arrived at the victim's Gwinnett County home and held him at gunpoint, hitting him in the head several times with the weapon. He stole a Lenovo laptop, a Nintendo 3DS, a Nintendo 2DS and an iPhone 6 from the victim.

The victim told investigators he recognized Rogers from a dating app. A police detective created a profile on that same dating app and arranged a meeting with Rogers — who was then arrested.
Evidence at trial also showed Rogers pawning the victim's iPhone within an hour of the armed robbery.
