Budweiser Clydesdales Not Coming to Lawrenceville Christmas Parade

The iconic horse team opted to appear in "the New York market" instead, but promise to visit in 2017.

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA — The Lawrenceville Christmas Parade will go on, but without some of the world's most famous horses.

The Budweiser Clydesdales had been scheduled as a highlight of the city's first-ever Christmas parade, on December 2.

But now, Anheuser-Busch has announced a corporate decision to move the team to the New York market for the holiday season.

"Unfortunately, due to scheduling conflicts, our world-famous Budweiser Clydesdales will not be able to make their originally scheduled appearance in Lawrenceville this holiday season," Jeff Knapper, general manager of Clydesdales operations for the company, said in a news release. "We apologize for any inconvenience, but look forward to bringing the hitch team to Lawrenceville again in 2017."

The release said that the horses will be appearing "on the northern east coast."

Lawrenceville was one of several markets in the South to be snubbed by the decision.

Anheuser-Busch says it's working together with Eagle Rock Distributing Co. to reschedule in each of the communities.

The city of Lawrenceville does plan to go on with its inaugural Hometown Christmas Parade.

Anyone who would like to participate may submit a parade application before November 21.
