Gwinnett Steakhouse Fails Health Inspection
Raw beef was being prepared over other food and an employee had an inappropriate drink, according to health inspectors.

SUGAR HILL, GA — A series of problems caused a Gwinnett County steakhouse to fail its health inspection recently.
Samba Steakhouse, at 5690 Cumming Hwy., scored a 56/U on the inspection Tuesday.
According to the inspection report, raw beef was being prepared on a table while food was being stored on a shelf below. The restaurant also didn't have proper documentation that workers had been trained in food safety.

An employee's drink was stored on a shelf above clean utensils and the employee was drinking from a cup with no lid or straw. Two hand sinks were inaccessible, and utensils and a sponge were being stored inside the sinks.
"Raw animal food" was not properly separated from produce and ready-to-eat food in the cooler and unwashed fruit and vegetables was stored above ready-to-eat food.

The failing score was a major drop for Samba, which had scored a perfect 100/A on its more recent inspection in May.
Under state policy, the restaurant will be inspected again some time in the next 10 days. If it has not addressed problems by that time, it could be shut down while the problems are handled.
