Gwinnett SWAT Standoff Shooting Suspect Identified
The Lawrenceville man is charged with two counts of aggravated assault for allegedly firing shots that led to an hours-long SWAT standoff.
LAWRENCEVILLE, GA — A Lawrenceville man has been charged with aggravated assault after police say he fired shots that led to an hours-long SWAT standoff on Wednesday.
Gregory Keith Mann, 46, was booked into Gwinnett County Jail at 7:41 p.m. Wednesday, according to the Gwinnett County Police Department.
A large portion of Mann's neighborhood around Saratoga Drive was blocked off for nearly five hoursWednesday as negotiators tried to get him to lay down his firearm and leave the home.

Shortly before 2 p.m., a pair of Gwinnett County sheriff's deputies approached the home in an effort to serve Mann with eviction papers. A woman met them in the driveway and told them Mann was inside.

Deputies entered the foyer of the home and began talking with Mann, who was at the top of a set of stars. But he soon retreated into a bedroom, police say. Shortly thereafter, deputies heard roughly four gunshots being fired.

No deputies were harmed and the woman fled to a neighbor's home. That's when the Gwinnett County Police Department's SWAT team and negotiators were dispatched to the scene.
The tense standoff dragged on for hours. But, around 7 p.m., Mann put down his weapon and came out of the building, surrendering to officers, police said.
"We’d like to thank the members of the neighborhood for their patience as we handled this complex and dangerous call," said Gwinnett County Police spokeswoman Cpl. Michele Pihera.
