New Sidewalk, Intersection Upgrades Coming in Gwinnett
The six projects were approved by commissioners at a cost of about $2.8 million.

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA -- Four sections of sidewalk in Gwinnett County will be built and two intersections fixed up after action by the county Board of Commissioners on Tuesday.
The board approved nearly $2.8 million in transportation contracts. The money comes from Gwinnett's special purpose, local-option sales tax.

- Sidewalk in southern Gwinnett County, along the east side of Bethany Church Road from U.S. 78 to Overland trail and along 630 feet of Killian Hill Road. Cost: $493,644.50
- Sidewalks along Lee Road and Telida Trail, also in south Gwinnett. Cost: $609,654.
- Two intersection improvements -- at State Route 124/Braselton Highway at Mount Moriah Road and Hamilton Mill Road at Old Hamilton Mill Road. A new traffic signal, left-turn lanes and an eastbound right turn-lane on Braselton Highway will be added. At Hamilton Mill and Old Hamilton Mill, the intersection will be upgraded and an eastbound right-turn lane on Hamilton Mill will be added. Cost: $1,690,389.
“With the weather warming up, it’s time to get to work pouring some sidewalks," Commissioner Tommy Hunter said in a news relesae. "I want to thank Gwinnett voters for their approval of SPLOST that funds transportation improvements like the ones that will get under way soon."
